Small desktop humidors compared: ten boxes, by the specs

I’ve only had one of these boxes in my hands: the COOL KNIGHT, which is the one I own. Everything else here comes from the sellers’ listings, so read it as what they claim, not what I found. This isn’t a ranking, because I have no way to rank boxes I haven’t used.

You should also know how the list was made. Six of the ten come from Refined Traditions, three from 1st Class Humidors and one from Amazon. I chose from those three because each pays this site a commission when you buy through these links. Other stores sell similar boxes. I stuck to desktop boxes with label counts topping out around 60, and left out travel cases and some pricier models to keep the list short.

The label doesn’t follow the size

Look at the table above and find the Old World Capri and the Ironside. Both say 25 cigars, but the Ironside’s stated size works out to about twice the volume. The Imperial Glasstop is about the same size as the Capri and claims up to 50, and the Éclat is slightly smaller and claims 30 to 60.

Some of that may come from how each number was chosen, and some may be listing errors. The Ironside’s 13 inches of depth and 6 of height stand out enough that I’d confirm them with the seller. Volume is also only a rough guide. Most of these listings don’t say whether their sizes are inside or outside, and walls, trays and the drawers on the COOL KNIGHT and Imperial Glass Drawer all take up room.

The listings don’t always agree with themselves either:

  • The Florence’s title says 20 cigars, and its description says 20 to 40.
  • The Gangway’s title says 50, and its description says 30 to 55.
  • The Capri’s description says 25, while its browser page title says 30 to 60.
  • The COOL KNIGHT has a heading that says 20 to 30, and the text under it says 20 to 35.

Refined Traditions does offer its own correction on its small humidors page. It says a compact desktop box labelled for 25 to 50 cigars really holds 18 to 35 if they’re 52 ring gauge or thicker. My guide to choosing a first humidor covers why these labels run high, and what several sources suggest instead.

Check the size against your cigars

Two quick checks will tell you more than the count:

  • Length. A 7-inch cigar needs more than 7 inches inside the box. The COOL KNIGHT’s 7-inch side won’t do it, so a long cigar has to lie along the 9-inch side.
  • Height. Ring gauge is measured in 64ths of an inch, so a 52 is about 0.8 inches thick. Two layers need a little over 1.6 inches before you count the lid and tray. At 3 inches tall, the Florence has the least height here for stacking.

The ten boxes

These are in the same order as the table, smallest first.

COOL KNIGHT

This is mine, a gift from my wife. I think it’s a great one for a beginner, but that’s one owner’s opinion, not a test. It takes up the least desk space of the ten, and it’s one of two with accessory drawers. Its listing doesn’t mention seasoning packs, though it comes with a water dropper. The two glass windows in the lid mean a second seal to watch.

Spanish cedar, a glass top, a front hygrometer and accessory drawers. The listing says it holds 20 to 35 cigars.

Humidor Supreme Florence

The Florence is wide and low. Its listing doesn’t describe the lining, though Refined Traditions’ small humidors page says each box on that page has Spanish cedar. I’d confirm that before buying, since it’s one of the main things to look for.

Visol Marcus

The Marcus is the only one that says its dimensions are interior. Its listing says “cedar” where the others say Spanish cedar. It also promises an airtight seal, which is worth reading loosely: Cigar Aficionado’s 1998 storage guide says a lid should let a tiny amount of air move in and out.

Humidor Supreme Gangway

The Gangway’s hygrometer is on the outside, so you can read it without lifting the lid. Its porthole is a window, which suggests the same second seal as any glass top, though the listing doesn’t discuss it.

Humidor Supreme Gangway

Humidor Supreme Éclat

The Éclat’s listing has about the same dimensions as the Capri’s, and it claims more than twice the cigars at the top of its range. I’d plan around the low end.

Humidor Supreme Old World Capri

The Capri is the one to look at if you want something decorative, with an old-world map on the veneer. Its listing specifies an analog hygrometer, so I’d check it before trusting it. It doesn’t mention seasoning packs.

Imperial Glasstop

On November 1, this was the lowest price I could quote among these boxes, at about $30. That doesn’t tell you how well it’s built or how well it seals, and I can’t speak to either. The glass top means the same second seal to watch, and the hygrometer is on the outside.

Bellevue

The Bellevue’s label starts at 50, the highest low end here, though its stated size is only about a tenth bigger than the Capri’s, which says 25. I’d plan around fewer. The hygrometer looks like a dial in the listing’s photo, so I’d check that one too.

Imperial Glass Drawer

This is the other box with drawers, two felt-lined ones that slide out. Its listing calls its size external, so the extra height doesn’t all go to cigars. The hygrometer is digital and on the outside, and the glass top has the same second seal.

Humidor Supreme Ironside

On paper, the Ironside is the largest box here by a wide margin, with the same label count as the Capri. Its listing mentions SureSeal Technology, a felt-lined bottom and an engravable nameplate. SureSeal is the maker’s own name for its lid seal, and the listing doesn’t give a measurement for it.

Where to start, by what you want

None of this says which box is better. It only sorts them by what the listings state:

  • Least desk space: the COOL KNIGHT, at 7 by 9 inches.
  • Seasoning packs included: the Florence, Éclat, Gangway and Ironside.
  • Seeing your cigars with the lid shut: the COOL KNIGHT, Gangway, Imperial Glasstop and Imperial Glass Drawer.
  • No window to seal: the Florence, Marcus, Éclat, Capri, Bellevue and Ironside, none of which mention one.
  • Drawers for accessories: the COOL KNIGHT and Imperial Glass Drawer.
  • The lowest price I could quote: the Imperial Glasstop, at about $30 on November 1.
  • The most room for one label count: the Ironside, if its stated size is right.

Before you buy

On November 1, 2026, the six Refined Traditions boxes ran from about $75 to about $235, and the three from 1st Class Humidors from about $30 to about $60. Prices move, and Amazon’s has to be checked on Amazon. Refined Traditions says shipping is free on orders of $75 or more within the lower 48 states, and the Florence’s sale price that day was a penny under that. 1st Class Humidors has the same $75 line for accessories and humidors within the lower 48, and none of its three boxes reach it alone.

Read the return terms before you season anything. Refined Traditions’ refund policy gives you 30 days from delivery, and it says you pay return shipping and that items must come back unused in their original packaging. 1st Class Humidors’ returns page counts its 30 days from purchase, asks for a return authorization by phone and unused items in their original packaging, refunds the price less shipping both ways, and says a restocking fee may apply. I’d run the whoosh and dollar bill tests as soon as the box arrives, and ask the seller whether a seasoned box still counts as unused. Amazon’s terms depend on the listing, so check there too.

What this compares

Every number comes from a seller’s listing, read on November 1, 2026. I didn’t measure these boxes, so check the listing before you buy, since specifications and stock change.

Label count
How many cigars the listing says fit. Where a listing gives two numbers, the table uses the range in its description.
Stated size
The dimensions in the listing, rounded. Only the Marcus says its numbers are interior.
Rough cubic inches
My own arithmetic, multiplying the stated sizes and rounding. It’s a way to compare the boxes, not a measure of usable space.
What’s included
What the listing says comes with the box, described under each model.

How this was put together

Researched comparison. Compiled from seller listings read on November 1, 2026. Nothing was measured or tested for this piece, and the volumes are the author’s own arithmetic from stated sizes. He owns the COOL KNIGHT and hasn’t handled the other nine. The boxes were chosen from three stores that pay this site a commission, and the article says so.
